A New Description of Merryland. Containing A Topographical, Geographical, and Natural History of That Country
Bath: L. Leake and E. Curll, 1741. Engraved frontispiece. Half leather with marbled paper sides. Duodecimo. [viii], xvi, 48 pages. Very good. Later binding of marbled paper over boards with leather spine and fore corners.
A clever and amusing piece of 18th century libertine literature that describes the female anatomy in terms of topography, geography, commerce, cultivation, etc. Satirizes contemporaneous pamphlets that promoted British Colonies while simultaneously punning the name of the Colony of Maryland.
