Are You Hungry for Good Base Ball: Then You Will Have Something Coming To You In Connection With the Big Centennial Celebration..

St. Michaels, MD: Comet Print, 1913. Framed broadside. Sight dimensions: 8 3/4" x 11 3/4". Frame dimensions: 13 3/4" x 16 3/4" Fine.

Fantastic baseball broadside advertising a double-header in 1913 on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The team from St. Michaels hosted the Baltimore Yannigans (misspelled "Yanegans" on the broadside). The games took place on the morning and afternoon of Monday, August 11, 1913. The teams are here described as being "selected from the flower of semi-professionalism of the State," with the games being officiated by Chief McAtee.

The broadside also advertises a Grand Parade and a $500 fireworks display that night. These festivities were in celebration of the centennial of the Battle of St. Michaels during the War of 1812. The battle took place on August 10, 1813, with the local militia successfully fending off a British attack from the river without suffering a single casualty.

This wonderful piece of baseball and Eastern Shore ephemera is already nicely matted and framed and ready to display.
