Jim Ford was an African American activist and Vice-Presidential candidate for the Communist Party USA in 1932, 1936, and 1940. He was the first African American on a U.S. Presidential ticket in the 20th century.

These articles and speeches illustrate the communist program for Blacks during the popular-front period. Ford's proposed solution to the challenges then facing African Americans, workers, progressives is a democratic front against fascism, extending that to true democracy--which in his view is socialism.
