The Life of Laura Keene. Actress, Artist, Manager and Scholar. Together with Some Interesting Reminiscences of Her Daughters

Philadelphia: Rodgers Publishing Company, 1897. First printing. Photographs, sketches, paintings, etc. Original cloth. Octavo. 254 pages.

Laura Keene was an amazingly accomplished woman in 19th century theater. This study of her life contains valuable information on the workings of a 19th century touring company, anecdotes and reminiscences of many theater people of the day. Of course Laura Keene is best known in connection with the play "Our American Cousin" and the Lincoln assassination, and this biography includes her first hand account the tragedy.

Very good. Bound in maroon cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine and upper board. A few shallow bumps to extremities, shallow fraying at spine ends. Interesting prior owner bookplate on front pastedown.
