Elvis and the Birth of Rock and Roll (Signed, with additional signed photograph)

(Köln, Germany): Taschen, (2013). Limited edition, #AP-20 of 250 copies. Photographs, letterpress poster art by Hatch Show Print. Cloth over boards. Elephant folio. 418 pages. Fine in a fine clamshell box, in original packing box.

A fantastic collection of photographs documenting Elvis Presley as he burst onto the national stage, ushering in a metamorphosis of pop music and the cultural transformation of America.

Alfred Wertheimer was a freelance photographer hired by RCA Victor to photograph a newly signed signer named Elvis Presley. His reply of "Elvis who?" had to be nearly the last time that question would ever be asked. This remarkable collection of photographs was taken in very close proximity to Elvis and his exploding world over the next several months.

This particular copy of this lavish production is one of 250 special "Artist's Proofs" copies and is numbered AP020. It is SIGNED by Wertheimer on the limitation page at front. It also includes a SIGNED photograph in a separate folder, "Kneeling at the Mosque," which was included with the first 125 copies of the 250-copy Art Edition.

The very large book is housed in a clamshell box measuring approximately 19" x 13 1/2" x 3 1/2", with the photograph is in its own bound folder. The whole package come in the original shipping box with styrofoam packing inserts.
