Longfellow's epic poem tells the story of the Ojibwe warrior Hiawatha and his tragic love for a Dakota woman named Minnehaha. The tale is set in Michigan's Pictured Rocks region on the southern shore of Lake Superior.
There were three printings of the first edition in 1855, and this copy is of the third printing according to Blanck.
