Standard Ink Sample Book
(Washington): (Government Printing Office), (1950). Samples of black and color inks. Comb-bound boards. Octavo. About 200 pages (not paginated). Near fine. Glossy coated boards, title printed on upper board, Prior owner name penned on front pastedown, along with date and department stamp. Each ink color sample page has 30 small perforated sample chips, and a few of these have been removed in normal use.
This book was compiled to show the basic ink colors stocked by the Government Printing Office Ink Section, with each given a unique number. The idea was to simplify requests for ink colors for work from any GPO production division. Divided into two sections: letterpress inks and offset inks.
