Amado Gonzalez was born in Mexico but immigrated to San Francisco in 1927 and studied at the California School of Fine Arts. He painted murals for the WPA in the 1930s. He created this spectacular map for the California Wine Advisory Board in the mid-1960s.
This lush, colorful pictorial map is decorated with many images highlighting the wine growing areas of California specifically, but also presenting local scenes in the history of the state.
This would make a stunning focal point in a winelover's home.
