Jim Harrison was a very versatile and gifted writer, producing masterful fiction but also some fine poetry. This collection of poems explores his own atavistic, primitive, totemistic thinking that he says can be "disturbing to one fairly learned."
The book is structured with the long poem "Suite of Unreason" woven throughout rest of the poems. This first printing of the first edition is signed by Harrison directly on the dedication page.
