Suttree
New York: Modern Library, (2002). First Modern Library Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. vi, 471 pages.
McCarthy's fourth novel, reputedly semi-autobiographical, set in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1951. Cornelius Suttree leaves his prominent family to live, estranged from normal society, in a dilapidated houseboat along the Tennessee River. Reviewer Stanley Booth has suggested that Suttree may be the funniest and most unbearably sad of McCarthy's books.
This is the first printing of the Modern Library edition.
Near fine in a near fine dust jacket.
