Signed, limited edition of Michener's grand historical novel of the Chesapeake Bay region, with particular focus at the mouth of the Choptank River. Michener's meticulous research is in evidence here as he spins his tale of watermen, indians, slavery, farmers, oysters, crabs, skipjacks, and so much more. Covers the period from the late 16th to the late 20th century.
This is copy #45 of 500, specially printed and bound by the publisher. Michener has additionally inscribed in black felt-tip pen to one Mary D. McNally at Dorchester Public Library in Cambridge.
