Bound in ivory and red cloth over boards with photo inset on upper board, title stamped in black on upper board and spine, small caricature stamped in red on upper board. Shallow bumps to cloth at spine ends. Jacket has a few edge chips and tears, wrinkles, and some dampstaining to rear panel and head of spine. No effects on actual binding.
A stunning collection of photographs of people and sights in early 1930s Peking, augmented with charming drawings by the Austrian expat cartoonist, Friedrich Schiff. Scarce, particularly so in the original dust jacket. Contemporaneous bookseller label of The Peking Bookshop at inner margin of rear pastedown.
