1766 Legal Document Authorizing Attorney John Dickinson to Settle a Judgment for Three Pennsylvania Men
1766. Single sheet.
Handwritten 18th century document authorizing future Founding Father, John Dickinson, to act on behalf of three men in the settlement of a debt in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The three men--James Martin, Samuel Martin, and Amos Jones all can be found as soldiers in Revolutionary War militia units from Pennsylvania.
John Dickinson was a very active and influential Founding Father whose "Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania" did much to unify the colonies against the Townshend Acts.
Ink remains clear and bold, wax seals mostly intact. Some edge wear to sheet, old folds, and edge tears. There is about a 3" tear in the bottom left corner of the sheet.
