(s.l.): NASA, 1980-1983. Loose leaf pages, generally 8.5 x 11 inches, punched at left margins for 3-ring binder. Very good to near fine condition. Some items or packets of multiple pages are stapled. Some pages have a marginal date notation, otherwise clean.
A treasure trove of information on the early operational space shuttle program, in the form of materials intended for the press. Separate pieces include "Space Shuttle News Reference," STS-5 Fifth Space Shuttle Mission: First Operational Flight," several "NASA Fact Sheets," several "Mission Reports," numerous "NASA News Releases," and more. Probably 200 or 300 pages in all.
This material all predates the Challenger disaster of 1986, and the tone is still very reflective of the excitement and optimism of a major return to space by the United States. Loads of interesting facts and anecdotes with which the press would engage the American public.
