Interesting observations of North and South shortly after the Civil War, compiled from many letters and papers produced by the newspaper editors who participated in these tours. There are many pages with illustrated advertising at rear, along with two folded maps--one of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and the other showing 600 miles around the Jordan Rockbridge Alum Springs of Rockbridge County, Virginia. The latter map has a 4" edge tear repaired with clear tape.
Bound in dark brown cloth over boards with title and ornament stamped in gilt on upper board. Chipping to cloth at corner tips, small patches of cloth chewed on upper board and spine. Sound over all.
