Buffalo: Printing House of Matthews, Northrup & Co., 1884. First edition. Full cloth. Octavo. 192 pages. Good. Bound in dark green pebbled cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine, dark brown endpapers. Rubs to binding extremities, a few shallow bumps, light stains to boards. Spine gilt dulled. Endpapers stressed or cracked at hinges, which a few chips and short tears to fore edges. Textblock slightly shaken.

The author claims this is the first book of its kind published exclusively for the barber trade. In addition to the hundreds of recipes for barbering concoctions, there are probably as just as many for medical purposes and for household uses. There is at least one handwritten recipe tipped in. Three pages of vintage barber-related advertisements at rear. Rare. OCLC locates a single copy.
