The classic coming-of-age novel about four sisters in New England during the Civil War, by Louisa May Alcott. These are early printings of both volumes, within two years of each one's first printing. The first volume has no statement of "Part One" on the spine, and does have the note regarding publication of "Part Second" on page 341. Second volume has "Part Second" on the spine and the note regarding "Part First" on page iv. A very appealing and sturdy set of this American literary classic.

Bound in green cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spines and upper boards. Modest extremity rubs. Second volume has slight lean to spine. Both volumes have a few signatures slightly proud. Bindings sound. Gift inscription dated 1870 in each volume to same prior owner from "Aunt Fannie," marking these as a continuously paired set throughout their history. Very good overall.
