Secretary of the Treasury under Presidents Harding, Coolidge, and Hoover, Andrew Mellon here lays out his "Mellon Plan" for reducing the national debt following World War I. Under Mellon's plan, tax rates on the highest earners were reduced, which actually resulted in more revenue coming into the Treasury.

Publisher's presentation card laid in. The book indicates it is a first printing by statement of "Published April, 1924" on copyright page (publisher's stated practice," but the dust jacket states "2nd Large Printing Before Publication" at top of front panel.


Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Bound in red cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine titles. Slight wear at extremities. Prior owner name pencilled at top edge of front free endpaper. Jacket has moderate soiling, a few shallow edge chips and closed tears.
