The Art of Thought
London: Watts & Co., (1949). First edition thus. Hardcover. Sixteenmo. xii, 162, [2 ads] pages.
Originally published in 1926, this is Wallas's classic study of human thought and the creative process. A foundational text that bridges psychology and art.
The present edition was prepared by Wallas's daughter in an abridged form, omitting four chapters dealing with the art of thought in politics, religion, and public education. Wallas's groundbreaking insights on the creative process are retained as the focus of this edition. This is a first printing of this edition, published in Watt's 'Thinker's Library' series.
Scarce book, particularly in dust jacket.
Bound in rose-colored cloth over boards with silver foil-stamped spine titles, decorative endpapers. Light wear and spots of fading to board extremities, prior owner name at top of front free endpaper. Jacket has shallow edge chips at head and heel of spine, a few short, closed edge tears, and other minor rubs and wear. Overall very good in a very good dust jacket.
