An adventurous and richly illustrated account of Hedin's ambitious and dangerous explorations through the deserts and lost kingdoms of Central Asia. Few twentieth‑century travelers saw more of the old caravan routes than Hedin, and his account remains a foundational text for the history, archaeology, and geography of the region. A desirable copy of a landmark work in exploration literature.
Bound in turquoise cloth over boards with spine and upper board titled in red, yellow endpapers. Mild browning to boards at top and fore edges, and to endpapers along hinges. minor wear to extremities. Jacket has a touch of fading to spine, shallow edge chips and extremity rubs, two larger chips at head and heel of spine, and some minor browning. Overall a very good copy in a very good dust jacket.
