This was America's first look into the indoctrination program of the Hitler Youth in Nazi Germany, published here as a warning to the U.S. in 1938. It is a translation of the textbook prepared by the Nazis in 1937 for use by some 7,000,000 young people in the Hitler youth organization. Translator Harwood Childs contributes a Preface and former Ambassador to Germany, William E. Dodd offers an answer to the propaganda in a Commentary titled 'The Bible of a Political Church.'
Front endpapers illustrated with facsimiles of the original German edition's front cover and title page. Prior ownership name of noted Chicago dance instructor Anne Rudolph Bartfield dated 1938 on verso of half title.
Near fine in custom clear Mylar cover. Bound in light gray cloth over boards with spine and upper board titled in red with gray patterned rules and borders. A couple of light stains to binding, otherwise clean and sound overall.
