Lynd Ward's second wordless novel tells the story of a curse brought to a slave trader's household by his murder of an African man and the theft of a demon-faced drum. Told through 118 uncaptioned woodblock prints. In this second effort Ward enhanced his efforts, resulting in more detailed images, more nuanced characters, and a more sophisticated plot.

This is copy #51 of an edition limited to 309 copies, and is numbered and signed by Ward on the limitation page.

Near fine, in new custom cut Mylar jacket. Lacking slipcase. Hint of fading to black cloth. Hinges sound. Some leaves unopened.
