Deeds Not Promises: Why the Negro People Will Vote for Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman
[New York]: Democratic National Committee, [1944]. Tri-fold brochure. 8 1/2" x 11". Printed on both sides.
Scarce 1944 campaign piece touting Franklin D. Roosevelt's Presidential accomplishments on behalf of African Americans. Housing, jobs, the military, the merchant marine, health education, agriculture, and economic security are all specifically addressed, often with supporting data.
FDR's New Deal programs and other policies had created a significant shift of Black voters away from the Republican Party to the Democratic Party and this brochure is a tangible demonstration of the Democratic Party working to solidify that politically important constituency as FDR runs for his fourth term.
No copies found in OCLC. Not in HALTER.
Some minor browning, a few short closed edge tears, and two pinhead-size holes in central panel not affecting legibility of text. Very good to near fine overall.
