A stunning, typographically elegant edition of 'The Tempest,' the text of which is taken from the First Folio of 1623. There are seven illustrations by Mary Grabhorn, including one on the title page. The book is printed in red and black throughout, with decorations in red. Handset type printed on English handmade paper. This was the first of a series of Shakespeare's plays produced by the Grabhorns.

The Grabhorn Press was founded in San Francisco in 1919 by brothers Edwin and Robert Grabhorn, embracing the ideals of the fine press movement. In the course of its nearly 50 years in operation the press became renowned for its craftsmanship, typography, and contributions to Californiana.
This is a beautiful edition, warmly inscribed to a Grabhorn family member and signed by both Mary and Ed Grabhorn.
