This handsomely bound two volume set was published as part of The Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes. It includes articles by well-known yachtsmen of the day, giving a comprehensive survey of late‑Victorian yachting. Contributors include Lord Brassey, G. L. Watson, E. F. Knight, and the Earl of Pembroke. Covers ocean cruising, Corinthian deep‑sea racing, yacht design, insurance, recollections of schooner racing, and more.

There is some coverage of the sport in America, with a chapter on the 1893 races for the America's Cup and two chapters by Lewis Herreshoff--"Yachting in America" and "The American Yachting Season of 1893."

Bound in cloth over boards with leather spines and fore corners, lightly marbled endpapers, spines titled in gilt on red and brown title labels, gilt ornamentation to spines, and both top edges gilt. Bindings sound. Mild toning to endpapers, light rubs to binding extremities, slight bubbling to cloth on lower board of volume II along leather spine. Near fine condition overall.
