The "almost unobtainable" History of Brewing in Maryland

Brewing in Maryland, from Colonial Times to the Present

[Baltimore]: Privately printed, 1965. First Edition. Black and white illustrations. Cloth hardcover. Octavo. xiv, 732 pages.

Monumental and definitive history of beer in Maryland, beginning with the first brewer, Benjamin Fordham in Annapolis. Kelley painstakingly researched the volume over a number of years and privately printed the book in 1965. Includes countless anecdotes, colorful figures, and little-known breweries. A rich resource that by the early 1970s was already said to be "almost impossible to obtain."

This copy is signed by Kelley on the front pastedown.

Good in a good dust jacket. Bound in black cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine and upper board. A few minor extremity rubs. Endpapers expertly repaired along inner hinges with Japanese tissue. Jacket has several repaired edge tears, some of which were taped from back side by prior owner, and general rubbing and wear. Still a presentable and completely usable copy of this important resource.
