Published just a year after the first edition in 1814, this second edition boasts considerable additions, local descriptions, a glossary of technical terms, and an index. Illustrations of fish and tackle. Salter's geographic area includes the rivers Thames and Lea. Chapters on various types of fish, use of artificial flies (fly-fishing), etc. Addenda section includes practical information on weather, treatment of drowned persons, etc.
This is a large paper copy with 6 extra copper plate engravings of fish at rear, which are not found in the regular edition.

Very good. Marbled paper over boards with leather spine and fore corners, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. Prior owner bookplate on front pastedown, a few anecdotal annotations in text. Minor extremity wear, mild foxing. Clean and sound overall. In custom-fitted 4 mil Mylar jacket. Attractive early 19th century volume.
