Chronicles of an African Trip

(Rochester): Privately Printed for the Author, 1927. First Edition. Numerous black and white photographic plates, endpaper maps. Hardcover. Tall octavo. [8]+9-87+[1] pages followed by 54 plates.

Letters from a 1926 East African safari by the founder of Kodak, George Eastman. Philip Percival was Eastman's professional hunter, and the party was accompanied by Martin and Osa Johnson. They hunted around Mt. Kenya, crossing the Guaso Nyiro River in search of lion, buffalo, and plains game. On the second leg of this safari they hunted buffalo, lion, and rhinoceros in Tanganyika.

Not surprisingly, there are many photographic illustrations. The 54 plates at the end of the volume are from photographs taken by Martin Johnson.

Ref. CZECH p. 90.

Bound in pale gray paper over boards with coarse tan cloth spine, paper spine label, endpaper maps. Fore edges untrimmed. Fine condition.
