The Ice in the Bedroom (Signed)
New York: Simon and Schuster, 1961. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. [iv], 246 pages.
Classic Wodehouse humor in this novel of the struggles of a young London man at loggerheads with fortune and love.
This copy is signed by Wodehouse on the front free endpaper: "Best wishes / P. G. Wodehouse". Additionally, laid in is an offprint of a contemporaneous review of the book in Newsweek, in which Wodehouse describes signing books in this exact manner "For a new book club which promises autographed books to its subscribers."
This U. S. edition precedes the British edition, Wodehouse having lived and written in New York since 1939.
Good in a good dust jacket. Textblock has a bit of dampstaining around upper fore corner affecting the first 120 or so pages. Dust jacket similarly has mild old dampstaining along fore edge folds and rear panel. Otherwise just minor edge wear with shallow bumps to spine ends. Still presents quite attractively.
