Inscribed and signed copy of this important collection of Sterling Brown's poetry. This landmark volume showcases Brown's mastery of poetic form influenced by the New Poetry Movement and the Harlem Rennaissance.
Brown taught for many years at Howard University, and in 1984 the District of Columbia named him its first Poet Laureate.
On the title page there is a fairly lengthy inscription from Sterling Brown to a colleague, referencing female Restoration era English writer and playwright, Aphra Behn. Inscription signed and dated by Brown.
