Corregidora
New York: Random House, (1975). First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. [iv], 185 pages.
Gayl Jones's scarce and highly regarded debut novel of an African American woman's struggles with abuse, generational trauma, and her hatred of the 19th century slave master who raped her maternal ancestors. Toni Morrison, who was the book's editor at Random House, said of it, "No novel about any black woman could ever be the same after this."
Very good in a very good dust jacket. Thin line of slight fading to top and bottom edges of both boards. Jacket has faint toning and a touch of soil to rear panel. Original jacket price is intact. A very nice copy.
