"Hollywood, in 1923, wasn't more than three blind staggers ahead of any boom town in the days of the gold rush."

Designing Male

New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, (1951). First Edition. Black and white photographic plates. Cloth over boards. Octavo. [vi], 310 pages.

Howard Greer recounts his journey from Nebraska farm boy to influential Hollywood fashion designer in the Golden Age of cinema. Greer played a pioneering role in Hollywood fashion design, blending theatrical glamour with ready-to-wear elegance. His impact is seen in his timeless creations for stars of the Golden Age, setting a high standard for costume design in film and influencing the fashion industry beyond the screen.

Includes 15 black and white photographs. The frontispiece photograph (repeated on rear panel of dust jacket) of Greer is credited "Robert Avedon," though we suspect this could actually be by celebrity and fashion photographer, Richard Avedon.

Very good in a good duct jacket. Minor extremity wear to binding, some light toning and spotting to board edges. Jacket has some rubbed wrinkles and a few shallow chips at extremities, scattered soil to rear panel.
