Naked Lunch

New York: Grove Press, Inc., (1959) [1962]. First American Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. xvi, 255 pages.

Burroughs's groundbreaking work that challenged censorship laws and pushed the boundaries of literary form with its fragmented, hallucinatory narrative. It has had a lasting influence on counterculture and modern literature, solidifying Burroughs as a key figure in the Beat Generation.

Copyright page reads 1959 but this first American edition did not actually appear until 1962 due to censorship challenges.

Bound in black cloth and paper over boards with gilt-stamped spine titles and black topstain. Jacket has just a few tiny extremity rubs, a few faint spots of foxing, and a cleanly closed short tear at bottom edge of rear panel. Excellent condition overall, without the usual fading to jacket spine. Fine in a near fine dust jacket.
