One of the articles from 1893 identifies Hawaii as the future of sea power for the United States. A fine collection of Mahan's thought, published on the eve of the Spanish-American War.
Military historian and collector, Alexander McCook Craighead, has pencilled his name at top verso of front free endpaper.

Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with blue-black coated endpapers, gilt-stamped spine titles, top edge gilt, and a silhouette of battleship USS Iowa in gilt on upper board. Minor extremity wear, rear endpaper lightly cracked along inner hinge, light stain to upper board. Overall a handsome, very good copy.
