Warning from the FBI (OWI Poster No. 74)

Washington: Office of War Information, 1943. Single sheet, approximately 20" x 28"

Original World War II domestic propaganda poster from the controversial Office of War Information. The warning and message from J. Edgar Hoover's FBI requests the aid of every American in rooting out spies and saboteurs with information they might glean in the course of their daily lives. "When you suspect the presence of enemy agents, tell it to the FBI."

The poster also admonishes citizens, "Don't repeat vicious rumors or vicious whispers," rather, "Tell it to the FBI!"

A striking, somewhat ominous piece of history from the World War II home front.

Near fine. Poster has creases from being folded in eighths when originally distributed, with a tiny hole or two at fold intersections. Some slight apparent ink offsetting. Overall a crisp and bold copy of this desirable O.W.I./FBI poster.
