Detailed history of the Navy chaplaincy, from the founding of the service through World War II. Both volumes individually indexed.

An envelope of additional items accompanies this two volume history. The items in this envelope include: 1) two 8" x 10" black and white photographs of groups of what we presume are Navy chaplains; 2) program of graduation exercises from the U. S. Naval School in Newport, RI in 1951; 3) a booklet titled "Ministering to the Jews in the Navy," prepared by USN Chaplain Joshua L. Goldberg; 4) a mimeograph page of prayers for Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish faiths in the face of imminent death; and 5) a blank form, "Monthly Statistical Report fo Chaplain's Activities" printed in 1948.


Bound in dark blue textured cloth over boards with titles and decoration stamped in silver on upper boards, titles on spines. Some light external wear, including some rubs to volume II upper board, but overall near quite nice.
