A wonderfully complete collection of the stories of Hans Christian Andersen presented by the Limited Editions Club. Of the 168 stories and fairy tales herein, some had never before been translated into English and a few had never before been published in any language.
Appendices at the end of volume 6 contain the previously unpublished stories, a chronological list of the stories, an alphabetical index to the stories, and editorial commentary.
Beautifully illustrated by Fritz Kredel, with the illustrations being colored by hand under his supervision at the Yuster Studios.
Signed by both Jean Hersholt and Fritz Kredel at colophon in volume 6.
Near fine set bound in patterned blue paper over boards with dark blue cloth spines, silver spine titles, yellow topstains. Neat prior owner bookplate on front pastedown of each volume. Hint of browning to spines. Clean and sound.
