Survival manual for U.S. Army Air Corps pilots flying missions over the Arctic during World War II. Prepared by the famed Arctic explorer Stefansson under the direction of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Laid in is a typed letter from Stefansson to a Mr. W. B. Cabot of Boston. Stefansson mentions a mutual friend, Gerrit Forbes, who is likely the elephant-hunting cousin of Franklin D. Roosevelt. The letter is on Stefansson's stationery from 67 Morton Street in New York and is signed by him "S."
Book is in good condition overall with some faint foxing to endpapers and minor extremity rubs. Bound in dark blue cloth over boards with spine title in light blue. Letter shows some light soil, with folds from mailing. Docketed on reverse.
