"Over Here," Affectionately Dedicated to the Officers and Men Preparing for "Over There," Camp Meade, Md.
Baltimore: Horn-Shafer Press, [c.1918]. Black & White photographs. Wrappers. Oblong quarto. [32 leaves, fold-out photos].
Scarce souvenir booklet of narrative and panoramic photographs of the regiments of the 79th Infantry Division training for World War I at Camp Meade, Maryland. This was the birth of the 79th, and this cantonment was carved out of the agricultural land of Anne Arundel County as a training camp for the draftees who came from Pennsylvania and Maryland. OCLC locates fewer than 10 copies.
Good condition, with light exterior soil and extremity wear. A few of the panoramas have been expertly repaired along folds with archival tissue. Centerfold signature slightly pulled. An attractive copy overall.
