"Woodstock was a single weekend that echoed the heartbeat of a generation and harmonized the rhythm of change."

Aquarian Exposition, Woodstock Music & Art Fair

[Philadelphia?]: [Concert Hall Publications, Inc.], [1969]. First Edition, first printing. Photographs, promotional artwork. Stapled wraps. Quarto. [52 pages].

Original program for the most influential music festival in rock & roll history: Woodstock, August 15-17, 1969. Woodstock became a 3-day love-in for the 500,000 people who attended, many of whom came impromptu, with the majority embracing the spirit of the era by bypassing the admission fee.

This is the first printing of the program, identifiable by the white letter "f" on the front cover being placed illegibly atop a light-colored flower bud. The post-festival reprints shifted the line so all letters appear against contrasting parts of the background image.

The program itself is printed on different colors and weights of paper stock, some glossy, some matte, with onion skin endleaves. Filled with stylized and typographically interesting promotional pages for the musicians performing, along with a full three-day lineup of the performances on the second to last page.

Woodstock was an historic gathering for peace and music, with legendary performances by the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, Credence Clearwater Revival, Richie Havens, Joe Cocker, Joan Baez and others. It was the pinnacle of the 1960s counterculture and left an indelible mark on American cultural history. Here is a tangible artifact from that iconic weekend.

Fine condition overall. Stapled covers have a few tiny extremity rubs, light soil and a few faint scratches to rear cover. Slight ripple to booklet. Prior owner has noted in pen on the festival schedule page the acts they saw in person. One might as easily consider that a positive rather than a negative. Overall a bright, remarkably well-preserved copy.
