An interplanetary detective novel involving the murder of a complex humaniform robot on the planet Aurora, and the investigation of the case by detective Elijah Baley and his robot partner R. Daneel Olivaw. Their investigation of the robot's demise challenges them with ethical dilemmas surrounding technology’s role in society, justice, and what it means to be human.

Laid in is a typed and signed postcard from Asimov to a prior owner, dated 16 August 1976. Asimov refers to one of his earlier books, "Eyes on the Universe," in response to an unknown question which had been posed. Signed by Asimov over his typed name.

This is third novel in Asimov's Robot series.


Very good in a very good dust jacket. Some faint browning to front cover, minor extremity wear. Jacket has a 1/2" tear at heel of spine and other slight wear to extremities. Signed postcard has mild age toning.
