An exploration of the precision processes involved in creating a Herreshoff yacht, with scaled drawings and photographs of several of their yachts in action. A "Roll of Honor" page lists the successful defenders of the America's Cup in the eight challenges between 1893 and 1934. All defending yachts were built by the Herreshoff Company, six were designed by Nathanael Herreshoff himself, and two were designed by W. Starling Burgess.

The typography in this volume is really wonderful, incorporating numerous nautical ornaments throughout. There are individual pages within the text devoted to each of the Herreshoff-built America's Cup defenders, including a color depiction of each. Descriptive text written by Herbert L. Stone.

Very good. Bound in light and dark blue paper over boards with gilt and blue ornamentation to upper board, spine titled in dark blue. Moderate browning along spine and board edges, slight extremity rubs. Binding sound.
