Salmagundi and a Poem by Ernest M. Hemingway
Milwaukee: The Casanova Press, 1932. First printing, limited to 525 copies. Faulkner portrait tipped to frontispiece. Flexible board. Octavo. 53, [1] pages.
A collection of early articles and poems by Faulkner, all but one of which originally appeared in The Double Dealer magazine. Selected and published by Hemingway's friend, Paul Romaine, of Casanova Bookstore of Milwaukee. In his humorous Preface Romaine explains the inclusion of Hemingway's four-line poem "Ultimately" on the rear cover as "a whim."
This is copy #195 of 525 in the edition. In the rather battered original slipcase.
A few tiny flakes along spine and slight extremity rubs. There is a narrow dampstain offset from slipcase along about 3" of upper spine on rear cover. Slipcase has rubs to edges and a few split joints, but has done a good job of protecting a fragile book. Very good in a fair slipcase.
