American Individualism (Signed)
Garden City: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1923. Cloth hardcover. Duodecimo. vi, 72 pages.
Written while he was Secretary of Commerce, this is the future President's celebration of the essence of American civilization and the frontier spirit. He argues that individualism, rooted in equal opportunity and the demand for a fair chance, has been the driving force behind America’s political, economic, and spiritual institutions from the beginning.
Signed by Hoover on front free endpaper.
Fine in a fine dust jacket, housed in an elegant custom slipcase with chemise. Book is bound in dark blue cloth over boards with gilt titles to spine and upper board. Prior owner bookplate neatly affixed to front pastedown, but no significant wear or defects to book. Dust jacket has some hints of browning to spine and front panel fore edge fold, but otherwise perfect. A spectacular copy with custom slipcase.
