The book comprises letters, photographs, and news clippings, chronicling Berg's early years, his academic journey at Princeton and the Sorbonne, his stint as a professional baseball player, and his subsequent roles within the U. S. Government. Particularly noteworthy is his service during World War II with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS, later CIA), where he was dispatched to Europe to gather intelligence on anti-American groups and physicists associated with the German nuclear program.
