A Map of Middle-Earth
[London]: George Allen & Unwin, Ltd., 1970. First printing. Color map with additional illustrations. Poster. 24" by 36 1/4"
Here is the iconic depiction of the theatre of action for J. R. R. Tolkien's classic, "The Lord of the Rings." Pauline Baynes created this map based on Tolkien's own working drawings and notes made while writing the book, as well as cartography by Christopher Tolkien.
The map features a cartouche with scale in miles, ten circular inset illustrations depicting important locations, rows of characters from the story along top and bottom borders.
A very nice example of this iconic map.
Near fine. There is a tack hole at each of the four corners of the poster, along with small patches of tape residue at corners on back side. A few minor bits of shallow edge wear and a horizontal crease near bottom edge. Much better condition than usually seen.
