Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream

New York: Random House, (1971). First Edition, first printing. Illustrated by Ralph Steadman. Hardcover. Octavo. [vi], 206 pages.

Thompson's second and most famous book, which chronicles a drug-addled tour of Las Vegas told through the character of his alter ego, Raoul Duke. This is the book that made Gonzo journalism famous, and it is on page 12 that Thompson himself uses the term for the first time referring to his own work. This style of journalism trades objectivity for an immersive account of the experiences of the reporter themself.

Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. Clean and sound, no prior ownership marks. Just a hint of the usual fading to board edges.
