The Works of Edgar Allan Poe (Complete in 10 Volumes)
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1914. Tissue-guarded frontispiece portraits, black and white plates. Green cloth over boards. Octavos.
A very handsome collection of Poe's works, including the tales, poems, and literary criticism. Poe had marked up copies of a few volumes of his works with changes for future editions, and though these manuscript notes went to Poe's literary executor upon his death, these changes never appeared in later editions of Poe's works prior to this one.
The final volume includes a facsimile illustration of Poe's manuscript changes to the poem "Lenore," along with a complete bibliography and the general index to the edition.
Bound in green cloth over boards with spines titled and decorated in gilt, Poe monogram in gilt on upper boards, top edges of textblocks gilt. Very good condition overall, with a few hinges somewhat tender, old damp-spotting to binding of volume III, which affects portions of spine and upper board. Prior ownership names on front endpapers.
