Cotten was an adventurer, army officer, writer, and noted collector of North Carolinaiana. He left his native North Carolina under the influence of "Klondike Fever," and this is his account of that adventure based on notes and an extensive manuscript made immediately upon his return.
He was later stationed at Ft. McHenry in Baltimore where he met and married a woman who had inherited the Cylburn mansion in Baltimore.
A very scarce account of the Klondike Gold Rush.
