Anderson presents a detailed review of military actions fought on behalf of the Union by southerners, including 296,570 white soldiers living in the South, 137,676 black soldiers, and approximately 200,000 men living in the North that had been born in the South. Also includes an alphabetical listing of over 300 Southern Federals who commanded brigades or larger units or were otherwise noteworthy.
